Teacher Bio

Hi! I’m Carl Clark. I’ve been blessed to have quite the musical life. Back in my elementary school days, I sang with the Fort Bend Boys Choir, where I was immersed in advanced choral music with multi-part harmonies. Then, in middle school, I picked up the upright bass and played in orchestral, jazz, and other musical ensembles. By the time I finished high school, I attended an orchestral workshop at Harvard, toured Europe with the Kinkaid Concert Band, played jazz around the city of Houston, performed in the pit for many musicals and stage plays, was selected for the Virtuosi Youth Orchestra of Houston and multiple ensembles at American Festival of the Arts, and lastly served as the Principal Double Bass of the TPSMEA (Texas Private School Music Educators Association) orchestra.

At the renowned music college of the University of North Texas, I began producing Hip-Hop and R&B music while studying classical music theory, aural skills, and keyboarding. I partook in the Men’s Chorus, Symphonic Band and Lab Band further developing my musicality in the genres of classical, jazz, and choral literature. Serving as a recording studio engineer at UNT’s College of Music, I learned many technologies that help in my music creation and started composing professionally for media and music libraries. Being in a sea of talented musicians, I was influenced to pick up guitar, ukulele, drum set, and electric bass before embarking to Austin and becoming a teacher.

My mother is an educator and so was my grandmother, so I was no stranger to teaching and the learning process. However, while teaching in Austin ISD, I acquired specific methods and strategies that help learners achieve goals. I was even blessed to be Teacher of the Year at my campus. Outside of performing with and leading musical ensembles of young musicians, I’ve also served as a bassist with the Central Texas Medical Orchestra.

Music has always been and will always be a focal part of my life and I can’t wait to help others in their own musical journeys!
